Floor Flattening

Floor flattening becomes necessary when a flooring contractor does a poor job of laying in a stone floor. Stone floor tiles require more patience and skill on the part of the tile setter - larger stone floor tiles (18" - 24" tiles) can be difficult to properly align level across adjacent tiles, resulting in "lips" - high edges where tiles come into contact with one another unevenly. If you have a marble, travertine or limestone floor with tile lips that approach 1/8" or more, consider resolving the problem by flattening the floor. The Stone Poets use aggressive metal-bond sanding disks to remove large amounts of stone stock in a relatively short amount of time, bringing the floor level, eliminating high and low spots, and producing a floor with grout lines flush with the tile face. The finished floor will eliminate the tripping hazard of an uneven floor, the grout lines, now flush with the floor tile face, will be much easier to keep clean, and the appearance of the floor will be uniform. Flattened floors can be honed or polished, depending upon the aesthetic of the home.
